What is a hard drive?
A hard drive is commonly referred to as storage, because it stores system data and your personal data on it.
Hard drive failure happens very often with HDD storage (Hard Disk Drives) as they contain platters that spin very fast.
The truth about HDDs is that they WILL fail. The only question is when.
Can SSD, M.2, NVMe drives fail?
Unfortunately, the answer is YES. SSD, M.2, and NVMe drives can fail at any time. While solid state drives have a median age almost 10 times longer than HDD drives, some of them fail in less than 3 years from being installed onto the computer or laptop. It is recommended to backup your data onto a separate drive, regardless of what type of solid state drive you use.
